Source hierarchy
| Tier | Type | Use |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Maritime authorities, governments, naval forces, ports and official notices | Highest weight for verifiable operational facts. |
| 2 | International agencies and outlets with original verification capacity | Independent confirmation and context. |
| 3 | Specialist media, AIS data and sector analysis | Supporting signals; never sole proof of closure. |
| 4 | Social platforms, aggregators and unverified content | Early detection; requires higher-tier confirmation. |
Real independence, not link count
Ten pages repeating the same wire report are not ten confirmations. The engine attempts to group duplicates, identify the original source and count genuinely independent domains.
Inclusion criteria
- Direct relevance to transit, navigation, incidents or operational measures.
- Identifiable date and time.
- Accessible source and link.
- Enough content to avoid relying on a headline alone.
- Consistency with other recent signals.
